**What Can We Do Over the Summer?**
Each grade level has prepared a list of activities for you and your child to maintain and enhance their skills over the summer:
It's crucial to continue learning throughout the summer! During this time, students can lose 2-3 months of skills and knowledge, significantly impacting their academic abilities at the start of the school year. With the rigorous Common Core standards, we dive straight into learning on the first day of school. You can help your child be ready by incorporating some academic activities during the summer.
**Testing at the Beginning of the School Year**
In the first two weeks of school, your child will be assessed in reading and math through the standardized MAP test and other assessments. These results will guide the placement of your child in the appropriate reading and math "differentiated groups" within their classroom. Students needing additional support may work with reading and math specialists. Your partnership and support will help your child make a SPLASH next year!
