Rena Belfiore, Lead Cafeteria Supervisor, Named "2022-2023 Person of the Year"
The Board of Education for the Westchester Public Schools is very pleased to announce that Lead Cafeteria Supervisor, Rena Belfiore, has been named as District 92½’s “Person of the Year” for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Belfiore will be honored at the annual Chamber of Commerce event.
Mrs. Belfiore has worked in the District for 28 years and is one of the most dedicated employees. She always goes above and beyond to assist in every way possible. She has built solid relationships not only with our students, but with staff and vendors as well. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Rena took charge, ensuring that our children throughout Westchester had access to meals. This included identifying families who needed meal service, working with transportation to develop delivery schedules, preparing the food, and finally, going door to door herself to deliver the meals to families in need. You can tell from her work ethic that she takes pride in her work and cares about every child. In addition to her cafeteria duties, Rena also works as the District's Substitute Coordinator. Mrs. Belfiore works tirelessly to fill our sub positions. Her contributions to our district are invaluable and she truly deserves the designation of “Person of the Year.”
We are also pleased to share with you the other candidates who were nominated and considered by the Board of Education for the “Person of the Year” award. Suann Meyer (Resource Teacher at WPS) and Michelle Salazar (ESL Teacher at WMS). We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those who were nominated for “Person of the Year” and those that took the time to nominate them. People working together on behalf of the district’s students are what make the Westchester Public Schools a special place to work and learn.
